    Continuing professional research

From engineering to finance.

His training in nuclear engineering shaped a quantitative outlook grounded in measurement, modelling, and applied mathematics. The transition into financial markets in the early 2000s extended that outlook to derivatives pricing, systematic strategy design, and the statistical analysis of market behaviour.

He continues to view financial markets as a domain in which methods from the physical sciences can be applied with discipline and care.

§05Disclosure

On the Public Record

Mr. Occhionero was the subject of a 2017 Italian criminal investigation known publicly as the EyePyramid case. The proceeding never reached final judgment. Two of the three counts expired under Italy's statute of limitations prior to 2025, and the remaining count is set to expire in January 2027 with no further judicial proceedings possible.

Under Italian law, a conviction is binding only after exhaustion of all three degrees of judgment. No such conviction exists in this matter. During and after the proceeding, Mr. Occhionero filed criminal complaints in Perugia against members of the original prosecuting team, and several of those individuals were subsequently placed under investigation.

He has continued his professional career without interruption across senior roles at Credit Suisse, BlackBox, Al Ramz, and IRH Global Trading. His Italian passport was renewed by the Italian Embassy in Abu Dhabi in August 2024.
